Programme Overview
The Entrepreneur Experience programme is a hands-on practical course where over 8 weeks we’ll equip you with all the tools, skills and knowledge needed to become a successful entrepreneur. We’ll cover all aspects of starting a new business, from initial idea validation to creating your business plan through to finding advisors, creating your pitch and exploring financing options.
You’ll learn from seasoned entrepreneurs and industry sector specialists how to build and launch your business idea using proven methods. Our programme is cohort based, enabling you to learn actively in real time through our highly engaging workshops and at the same time benefit from community led collaboration.
Our unique programme also offers the option of a 4-week virtual internship with a successful UK SME giving you the opportunity to apply your acquired knowledge and skills in a real-world environment.


Who’s it for
If you’re an ambitious university student or recent graduate wanting to learn more about entrepreneurship, an aspiring entrepreneur with a business idea or an entrepreneur with an early-stage business looking to improve your or your team members existing business knowledge and skills then this programme is for you.
The programme is designed to fit around university studies or a full time job. Because the course is delivered online, you can join one of our 3 cohorts a year from anywhere in the world.
For international students and aspiring entrepreneurs looking to set up an innovative business in the UK, iUK Academy can help introduce you to endorsing bodies for a UK Start-up or Innovator visa.
What you’ll learn

- Develop a high-level strategy for your business and the ideal business model

- Use a business canvas to innovate and pivot your business model
Developing a top-level marketing strategy is critical to success.
Learn how to:
- Understand your user’s needs, experiences, behaviours and goals.
- Create reliable and realistic representations of your key audience segments.
- Plan the optimum messaging and channels to deliver those messages.
- Nurture the customer experience by mapping across different channels.
In this modules we focus on:
- How your own personal growth will act as an accelerant or a drag on the growth of the business
- The truth about start up journey and the underestimated cause of high failure rate
- Knowing yourself – why it’s so important for your and your company’s success
- Answering the million or billion dollar question – can you predict entrepreneurial success? And if you can, how likely are you to succeed?
Running a successful business depends more on who you have. In this module we’ll look at:
- The importance of people and teams at start up stage and beyond
- Whether to go solo or find a co-founder
- The three core co-founder team dilemmas:
- Relationships – whom to attract and how to work with each other
- Roles – the roles people should play
- Rewards – how to split rewards
- The three core hiring dilemmas:
- Relationships – whom to hire
- Roles – what positions to create, when and what types of people to hire into them
- Rewards – compensation to attract and retain hires
The UK encompasses a highly regulated environment and there are key issues you should be aware of. With respect to living and setting up a business in the United Kingdom, we’ll cover:
- Personal tax and related areas
- Business affairs, including setting-up a limited company in the UK, compliance requirements and the details on various business taxes
- Effective financial management of a company and business, including financial statements, business plans, budgeting & forecasting and related matters
Learn the roles and responsibilities of business owners when starting a new firm, what regulatory standards they must meet, and other legal issues:
- Company formation, including types of business,registration and issuing shares
- Directors’ and shareholders’ roles and responsibilities

- Regulatory & Compliance
Learn the different ways to raise finance for your venture, when to do this, what documentation is required and how to ensure you are well prepared to negotiate effectively with a potential investor
- The different types of investment
- Traditional sources of financing
- Alternative sources of financing: overdrafts and loans, angels, business grants etc.
- Investor terminology and key documents: due diligence, terms sheets etc.
- Finance rounds: seed, growth, A-E, preparing for exit
